Progress Percentage Calculator
See exactly how far you have come and how much is left. Works for anything.
Works for tasks, pages, hours, savings, steps, marks, anything with a number.
How the Progress Percentage Calculator Works
You give it two numbers: how much you have completed and the total amount. It divides them, multiplies by 100, and gives you your progress percentage. That is it. No formulas to memorise. No Excel needed.
So if you have read 120 pages of a 400-page book, you divide 120 by 400 and multiply by 100. That gives you 30%. You are 30% through the book. Easy.
What You Can Track With This Calculator
Anything with a starting point and a finishing point. Here are the most common uses.
Project and Task Completion
You have 80 tasks on a project. 52 are done. Your project is 65% complete. Your manager wants a status update, and now you have the number in seconds, not minutes.
Savings and Financial Goals
Saving up 200,000 NGN for a course. You have put aside 135,000. That is 67.5% of your goal. You are more than halfway there. Knowing that number can actually keep you motivated.
Reading and Study Progress
Reading a 350-page textbook. You are on page 210. That is 60% done. If your exam is in two weeks, you know exactly how much is left to cover.
Fitness and Health Targets
Your weekly workout goal is 5 sessions. You have done 3. That is 60% complete. Your daily water goal is 2 litres. You have had 1.4 litres. That is 70%.
Attendance and Time Tracking
A course has 40 classes. You have attended 28. Your attendance is 70%. Many universities require 75%, so you know exactly where you stand without having to ask anyone.

The Formula Behind It
The calculation is basic division and multiplication. Nothing more.
Take what you have done, divide it by the total, and multiply by 100. The result is your percentage. The remaining amount is just the total minus what you have completed.
If your total is 60 and you have completed 45, your remaining is 15. Your progress is 75%. Those two numbers are the only things you need.
Common Mistakes People Make
Swapping the two numbers
The most common error. People enter the total in the “completed” field and their completed amount in the “total” field. The answer comes out inverted. Double-check which number goes where before reading the result.
Entering the total as zero
You cannot divide by zero. If your total is zero, there is nothing to measure progress against. The calculator will show an error and ask you to correct it.
Expecting a round number when there is not one
Progress percentages are not always neat. 43 out of 60 is 71.67%, not 72%. The calculator gives you the exact number, rounded to two decimal places, so you can trust it in a report or a conversation.
Why People Search for a Progress Percentage Calculator
Most of the time, people are not sitting calmly wondering about math. They are in a meeting, filling in a report, checking a deadline, or trying to explain something to a manager. The percentage is just a tool to make a decision or communicate clearly.
This calculator exists so you can get that number in under 10 seconds and move on with your day.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate percentage progress?
Divide your completed amount by the total and multiply by 100. If you have completed 45 out of 60, that is (45 / 60) x 100 = 75%. This calculator does that automatically.
What is the difference between progress percentage and percent to goal?
They are essentially the same calculation. Progress percentage measures how far through a task you are. Percent to goal measures how close you are to a target. The formula is identical. The wording just depends on context.
Can I use this for tracking project completion?
Yes. Enter the number of completed tasks as “completed” and the total number of tasks as “total.” The calculator gives you the project completion percentage immediately.
What if I have done more than the total?
Enter both numbers normally. The calculator will show a percentage above 100% and label it as exceeded. This is accurate and expected.
Does this work for attendance percentage calculations?
Yes. Enter the number of classes attended as “completed” and the total number of classes as “total.” The result is your attendance percentage.
How do I find what percentage of a budget I have spent?
Enter the amount spent as “completed” and the total budget as “total.” The calculator shows how much of your budget you have used and how much is left.
